The top of the timesheets and a great pace could have been the good news of the day, but a crash on the last quick-lap attempt in FP2 has dramatically changed the outcome of the Czech Grand Prix for Gabriel Rodrigo. A highside at turn 1 resulted – after medical scans performed by Clínica Mobile – in yet another right-collarbone fracture but also in a pelvic fracture.
Now officially ruled out of the Czech GP, the Argentine will make his return to Barcelona where a further medical evaluation – and possible surgery – are scheduled at the Quiron Dexeus clinic.
It was a also a challenging day – for other reasons – on the other side of the pit-box for Riccardo Rossi, who made his debut on a Moto3 bike at this track. The Italian rider suffered a lot the bumpy asphalt of the track, but was still able to draw some interesting conclusions for qualifying and race. The Moto3 rookie will go back to a more standard set-up and a softer tyre choice for the race.
